ABOUT US

ABOUT BACKCOUNTRY

B-Nolt.jpg

My name is Brett Nolt, founder of Backcountry Beetleworks. As an avid hunter and outdoorsman, the hunting tradition, and stories that come with it, is what inspired this business.

Whether I'm in a waterfowl blind on a rainy day, calling coyotes under the cover of dark, or hunting big game on a crisp November morning, you can find me pursuing this passion.

My love of hunting and business has driven me to start Backcountry Beetleworks, a skull cleaning service for hunters who want a more cost effective mounting option to show off their trophy hunt for generations to come.

My army of Dermestid Beetles work tirelessly in a dark, temperature controlled room. They are a very fragile species that need specific conditions to do the job. The end product is a skull that is cleaned far beyond the abilities of the human hand.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Skull Preparation

  • For best results, skin and freeze your skull as soon as possible

  • The next best option is to skin, remove all tissue and organs, then store at a temperature below 45 degrees.

  • Skulls that spoil or attract maggots could incur damage and will take additional time to prepare. This will increase your cost.

  • Click here for rules and guidelines for animals coming from a Disease Management Area. Contact us with any additional questions regarding head preparation for animals killed in a DMA.

Skull Shipping Information

When preparing your skull for shipment, please place your frozen head into two sturdy garbage bags. Then stick the sealed bag into a box packaged tightly between one to two inches of newspaper or another type of protective material that will also help insulate the head. Another option is to package the head in an inexpensive styrofoam cooler.

To avoid spoiling, it's highly recommended to select a shipping speed of 3 days or less. It's recommended to insure your package and make sure to get a tracking number. Backcountry Beetleworks is not responsible for lost or damaged shipments.

  • Include your name, complete address, phone number, and email with each package you send us.
